Originated in Italy. The flavor is rich and complex with a bit of heat which is long lasting but seldom harsh tasting. This garlic lends itself well to being used either raw or cooked and due to a high sugar content caramelizes well. Large attractive bulbs with a lot of purple, brown and red layered across a white back round. Bulbs contain 10 to 12 easy peel cloves.
